THOSE 70'S FEELS
Here at Chasing Unicorns, it is no secret that we have a long-lived, fully fledged love affair with all things from the 70’s. From Michelle Pfeiffer's blonde bobbed sexiness in the iconic Scarface movie, Jane Birkin's unforgettable French girl style right through to the dreamy creations of Ossie Clarke, Halston, and Adini, it is hard not to be captivated by the oh-so-inspiring Disco Decade.
The 70’s is an era that has been revived time and time again on the modern day catwalk. It's an aesthetic that is bold and overstated at its best. It continued the 1960s theme of individual style and carved out a look defined by flares, platforms fringing and floaty florals. The decade is awash with style icons aplenty from 70’s poster girl Joni Mitchell to Cher, and Bianca Jagger. It is safe to say that the 70’s was, in essence, a liberating, creative force which continues to make itself felt today.
Glitter, platforms and disco balls aside, the 1970’s saw the birth of postmodernism and eclecticism and thus it was a decade that defined a real fashion revolution. Here at Chasing Unicorns, we find inspiration in the gentler palette, soft patterns, and prints reminiscent of country and ethnic dress. A return to “nature” inspired tones such as khaki, sand, taupe, olive and brick red is a colour palette that dominated the 70’s and is one that Chasing Unicorns will always draw from and embrace in our garments.
The 70’s will forever be remembered as the decade that brought us some of today's most covetable vintage, most strong and beautiful women and most magnificent designs. We hope that you fall in love with the elements of the 70’s that we are inspired to incorporate into our designs at Chasing Unicorns from a fabulous paisley print to a flared khaki overall we promise to always remain one foot in the 70’s for our pleasure and yours!
